And many of them are still rebellious." (Al-Hadid, 57:16)

My name is Axel I’m the Islamic awareness officer. My vision for this role is to highlight and beautify lived Islam.

  ﴿وَما يُؤمِنُ أَكثَرُهُم بِاللَّهِ إِلّا وَهُم مُشرِكونَ﴾ [Yūsuf: 106]

Assalamualaikum, my name is Yasmin and I study Arabic and Islamic Studies at Regent’s Park. Inshallah this year, I will be OUISOC’s Politics Officer.

My role entails informing the community of ideas, events and discussions that they perhaps wouldn’t think of exploring.

Politics isn’t a single discipline, it intertwines with every aspect of life. Even throughout the history of Islam, the way societies gather, the discussions and debates people have and the impacts Muslim figures have made across the world is all a consequence of politics and political systems. Inshallah, my goal is to make the Oxford community aware of just how significant politics is, especially to our faith.

Asalamu'alaykum, my name is Sara and my role on committee this year is as Student Affairs office Insha’Allah! My aim is to make sure all Muslim students at Oxford have access to the resources and support they need to feel comfortable, both with their academics and college life. This includes things like having access to halal food, appropriate accommodation and various opportunities to get advice from older peers in the same subject. As well as this, I want to help the new Muslim freshers have an easy transition to university through sessions on how to adapt to an increasing workload and manage being away from home.

Please do get in contact if you have any questions or want to have a chat!

As-salaamu alaikum, my name is Fahim and this year’s Access Director. Access and outreach are very important for social mobility and helping prospective students realise that coming to Oxford can be a real achievable goal, whilst at the same time being a place where one can strengthen and develop their iman. A lot of access schemes have helped me to be where I am today, and I wish to contribute back to our community through this role, Insha’Allah. The Access Team seeks to tackle the cultural and faith barriers that Muslims often face at university. Over the year, we aim to host a wide range of sessions including our flagship event, the Oxford Muslim Access Conference, engage with parents and expand our reach across the whole of the UK. Together we aim to help students to reach their full potential, support the Muslim community and contribute to wider society. Feel free to contact me if you have any queries or would like us to host an event!

Assalamu’alaikum,

I'm Ahmad - a first year medic at LMH,

As an Alumni Officer, my job will be to make sure all of our esteemed alumni have many opportunities to stay connected to the community in ways that are exciting and feasible for them.

I hope to see many of you (alumni and current students!) at our exciting events this year, that include the Alumni Dinner, Careers week and many more.

I will also help with the maintenance of the History Project, which is a series of interviews with previous ISOC presidents that you can find on this website. There are some very interesting interviews filled with lots of useful advice and reflections so do keep an eye out for that!

If you have any questions or suggestions, - feel free to reach out to me. I’d love to hear from any Alumni who want to get involved with or visit our ISOC, inshallah I can help facilitate this.

: Surah 4 An-Nisa, Ayat 36

Serve Allah and ascribe no partner to Him. Do good to your parents, to near of kin, to orphans, and to the needy, and to the neighbour who is of kin and to the neighbour who is a stranger, and to the companion by your side, and to the wayfarer, and to those whom your right hands possess.
